There are many Christianized interpretations of the meaning of the candy cane. There appears to be no true meaning of the candy set forth in history although, the following are popular interpretations that, as taken as a religious symbol can further inspire one's meaning of faith, especially around the Christmas Season.

The candy's hardness represents the church founded on solid rock and the promise of God.
1 Cor. 10:4 and that rock was Christ

The white represents purity; Jesus and/or the virgin birth and purity of life.
2 Corinthians 5:21 a sin offering

The peppermint flavor references to hyssop which is Old Testament herb.
Psalm 51:7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; I will be whiter than snow

The curve or crook represents the shepherd's staff and/or the letter "J" for Jesus.
John 10:11 "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep

The red stripes represent Christ's blood and/or The Holy Trinity and His sacrifice.
Eph. 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins

Secretive symbol for Christianity due to religious oppression
